History of the Northern California Pug Club

A group of people interested in Pugs gathered together at the Petaluma fairgrounds in the spring of 1988 to form the Northern California Pug Club (NCPC).  The objective:  to make available the opportunity for people in Northern California to learn more about the Pug breed and to keep them informed of current happenings in the dog world.

We currently hold a match in the spring each year and have an AKC Licensed Pug Specialty Show in October held at the Alameda County fairgrounds in Pleasanton in conjunction with the Del Valle Kennel Club dog shows.  We also have special club functions scheduled each year, one of which is the Pugtacular.  This annual event is for all Pug dogs, not just show dogs and it is a good opportunity for all people interested in Pugs to get together for a good time.  Another function includes the Club benching section at the February Golden Gate Kennel Club (Cow Palace) show.  We also have presentations and round table discussions on various topics related to Pugs at our meetings to help learn as much as we can about Pugs and their care.

The Members of NCPC are always willing to help anyone, with or without a Pug, to learn about our breed, or help our four legged friends.  Just ask us and see.
