| Titles: |
Morgan
finished her AKC championship at the prestigious Del
Valle show October 23, 2005 with a 4-point
major, was named Best of Winners and received an Award
of Merit over 13 Specials.
After the judge made the cut in the Breed
judging, Morgan was the only pug in the ring not
being shown by a professional handler!
|
| Favorite
food: |
Steak
or anything else on a human’s plate. Although
she never gets table scraps, hope springs eternal in
Morgan’s eyes.
|
| Favorite
toy: |
Morgan
is not a big toy lover, but she enjoys the sport of
trying to take Pele’s or ‘Uli’s toy (good luck!)
and is VERY protective of all toys which are headed to
the washing machine.
|
| Likes: |
Being
the center of attention and getting her own way (and
she frequently does)!
|
| Dislikes: |
Anyone
else getting
his or her way. (Oh
yes, and having her nails done or being left at home for
any reason.)
|
| Home
companions: |
Morgan
deigns to share her T’ien-Shan home with her
personal assistant (Susan) and fellow pugs Celestial
Storybook Hoku-Pele (Pele) and Celestial Maui Rain
(’Ulalena). The
three T’ien-Shan girls are the first show pugs, but
not the first pugs in this house. Black
and fawn littermates, Cassie and Muffie, were brought
home after a “Find the Right Breed for You!” book
suggested that pugs were the ideal canine companions
and a field trip to the Golden Gate Kennel Club’s
benched show confirmed it, with a close-up view of
puggie charms (and irresistible pug tummies).
Morgan
was brought into the fold after Muffie died at age 14,
so that Cassie would have a companion.
After Cassie joined Muffie at the Rainbow
Bridge, we were overjoyed to be able to bring Pele
home. ‘Uli
joined the pack in 2006 because she was just too cute
to leave behind.

| About
the owner: |
Susan
Phillips has lived in San Jose, California, since she
returned home from Yale, having taken “truth and
light” to heart.
She is proud to have been in public service all
of her professional career and is looking forward to
retirement, or semi-retirement, so that she can spend
more time with the pugs.
Susan
began showing pugs in conformation solely because
Morgan’s purchase contract required it;
she continues because there are still a few
things about dog shows that she enjoys and she is too
stubborn to quit.
She is looking forward to the “brain”
events of obedience and rally and the athletic
competition of agility.
(If only we could learn to do a “down”
without a “show me the treat”!)
Susan
chose “T’ien-Shan Pugs” as the umbrella name for
her gang, in part to drive her family and friends
crazy, as do most things about this pastime.
T’ien-Shan means “Celestial Mountain” -
it honors the Celestial Pugs influence and Morgan is,
of course, the small but mighty “Mountain”.
It also symbolizes the purity of spirit we
bring to all of our endeavors.
Our watchword, “Purely pug, for the pure
enjoyment of the breed” reinforces our commitment to
be good stewards of the breed and to maintain our
standards for integrity. With these pugs, what you see (beautiful pugs as nature
intended them to be) is what you get (no dyes,
bleaches, sharpies or powder to artificially enhance
their appearance in the conformation ring).
For
us, it’s all about honor and the pugs.
“Lux et Veritas” to the end and, of course,
“Boola Boola”!
